What kind of punching bag should I buy to practice Muay Thai?

Should I get any bag 100lbs and over? I%26#039;m pretty big and I have alot of power. I want something that lasts.

Ringside has a water bag I don%26#039;t know if that is good.|||During my fighting career, I used several bags. Speed bag, Double-Ended Speed Ball, 70lb and 180lb heavy bags.

The 180lb heavy bag is most effecient for Muay Thai practice. It is a bag that is about 6 feet long and hangs so that the base of it is about 1 foot aff the floor. This allows for very strong leg kicks as well as all the other kicks and punches you will be practicing.

The 70lb heavy bag is great for practicing in-fighting, because you can muscle it around and throw some nasty hooks, just like you would be doing in the ring.

My advice is to get a cloth filled bag, not a water bag, because the cloth filled bag will allow you to add a tablespoon full of sand per week into the top of the bag. This sand will filter down through the bag and collect in the bottom as you work the bag. Over the course of time, the bag will not only get heavier, but it will also get harder. There is no way to do this with a water bag.|||hahahah...muay thai?

punching bag wont help...you%26#039;ll need to learn the SECRETS of it.......|||you need to get one of the long ones, that can allow you to do thigh kicks. they arent as wide as boxing bags, but you can perfect the power and technique of kicks much better.

Also having a regular heavy bag is a good thing as well. Also, you may be a big strong hitter, but if your wrists arent strong enough to handle your power, you will ultimatly loose the battle of training correctly. Start of with a 70 lb bag, then move up. Let your wrists adjust to what you are doing and bring their strength up with your punching power. Trust me, I had to step down, also learn to wrap your hands really good.
