well i was kind of thinking shotokan mixed with muay thai, but I%26#039;m concerned if this mix is right. Please help =D|||Depends on what you%26#039;re aiming for. I don%26#039;t do Muay Thai but to my understanding it%26#039;s a lot of power moves, aimed to either break or kill. This is quite practical in street fights. Now, if you%26#039;re aim is to reinforce this, I would not recommend Shotokan, instead I would recommend boxing or kick boxing for that matter. However, if your aim is to develop yourself as a well rounded martial artist that can both handle themselves on the street, and in a tournament ring, then I believe Shotokan is your best bet. Plus, Shotokan has that traditional Karate feel that Muay Thai does not. You get to learn and enjoy many different forms and Katas. I believe without forms or Katas, you aren%26#039;t so much a martial artist, but a fighter.|||Judo|||boxing just my opinion|||Train in the two invincible arts; Muay Thai and BJJ. Hey, watch a video of any Muay Thai or BJJ guy against anyone else.
MT%26amp;BJJ = pwnage.
At least that%26#039;s what they want you to think.|||BJJ or catch wrestling are great compliments to Muay Thai. You%26#039;ll come out a very well-rounded fighter going that route.|||If you want to improve your standing, go for boxing.
Muay thai fighters are used to a tough, rigid style where you trade alot of leather, by implementing boxing to it you learn to avoid punches, bow and weave, and improve your basic punching techniques.
Shotokan is a good style, but you must transition from it everytime you train, as they are very different, the only benefit I%26#039;d forsee is more kicks to your muay thai repertoire, such as side kicks and spinning kicks, that muay thai fighters never use; it%26#039;d also teach you devastating kicks for shotokan training, as usually they don%26#039;t condition the shins, in order to kick with them. The sparring (kumite for shotokan), will also be very different, unless you train at a dojo where they do %26quot;sports%26quot; karate, which is similar to kickboxing, if that%26#039;s the case muay thai will help you alot.
If you want to be a well-rounded fighter, then I%26#039;d go for a grappling style such as judo, sambo or jiu-jitsu or wrestling.
I hope this information helps
good luck!|||San Shou all the way!|||If by %26quot;mix%26quot; you mean MMA, then I%26#039;d do a grappling style: Wrestling, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido. Muay Thai is an excellent striking form. Shotokan is also an excellent striking style. The higher principles of both will be similar.|||I would say go with some form of grappling like BJJ, judo or aikido
