Difference between regular kick boxing and muay thai kickboxing?

What is the difference between regular kick boxing and muay thai kickboxing?|||Mauy thai kickboxing is a more violent (yet more %26quot;street%26quot; useful) version of American Kickboxing. The main difference is that you are allowed to use your elbows and knees to strike your oponent, where as in kickboxing, that is not allowed. If you are interested in doing Mauy thai, remember that it is completely brutal. People think professional boxing is dangerous, but Mauy thai brings it to a whole different level.

Oh, and by the way, another reason Mauy thai is different is because it has an Asian name so it immediatly sounds like a martial art to unformiliar people. Basiclly, if you are trying to imtimidate people with what sport you do, do kickboxing becaused it naturally sounds intimidating, where as Muay thai sounds like some form of Karate, and therefore lacks the same intimidation effect. Honostly though, do what ever sport you enjoy most and remeber to be safe.|||Kickboxing refers to the sport of using martial-arts-style kicks and boxing-style punches to defeat an opponent in a similar way to that of standard boxing. Kickboxing is a standing sport and does not allow continuation of the fight once a combatant has reached the ground.

Thai Boxing, kicks below the belt are allowed, as are strikes with knees and elbows.

These are the rules used in American and Australian Full Contact Karate.

In kickboxing opponents are allowed to hit each other with fists and feet, striking above the hip Using elbows or knees is forbidden and the use of the shins is seldom allowed.

Bouts are usually 3 to 12 rounds (lasting 2 - 3 minutes each) for amateur and professional contests with a 1-minute rest in between rounds. This is in contrast to Muay Thai, where the use of elbows and knees are allowed. In fact, some Muay Thai practitioners consider kickboxing a %26quot;watered down%26quot; version of Muay Thai. Fighters and promoters can agree to various rules including kicks only above the waist, kicks anywhere, no knee strikes, knees only to the body, and so on. American Kickboxing is essentially much a mixture of Western Boxing and Karate.

The round durations and the number of rounds can vary depending on the stipulations agreed to before hand by each fighter or manager. A winner is declared during the bout if there is a submission (fighter quits or fighter%26#039;s corner throws in the towel), knockout (KO), or referee stoppage (Technical Knock Out, or TKO). If all of the rounds expire with no knockout then the fight is scored by a team of 3 judges. The judges determine a winner based on their scoring of each round. A split decision indicates a disagreement between the judges, while a unanimous decision indicates that all judges saw the fight the same way and all have declared the same winner.|||I believe that they both get your *** kicked so i dont see a difference.. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE HERE IS THAT ITS KEEPING YOU FROM SPENDING MORE TIME WITH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ADORABLE WOMAN IN YOUR PUNIE LIL LIFE!!!

ps: I LOVE YOU!! AND MISS YOU AT NIGHTS|||Muay Thai, clinch and knee, back elbow, downward elbow from standing.

Kickboxing = watered down Muay Thai|||kickboxing is a fake sport like karate. muay thai allows elbows, kicks, punches, and knees.|||muai thai allows kicks and knees to the legs.......inner %26amp; outer thighs etc, knees to the ribs, chest and head.
