What can i expect in muay thai training?

just wondering what to expect in a typical muay thai training session as a beginner . i have trained and fought in boxing but am looking at muay thai as a new skill to learn.|||a lot of pain and fatigue. kicking in itself is tireing.|||As a beginner you should not be sparring, that will come later. For now, expect a lot of conditioning drills. Also, your stance will be different than in boxing. You%26#039;ll do a lot of bagwork, and maybe padwork with a partner. You may do offense/defense drills. The conditioning will be truly exhausting. Because you come from a boxing background, you will have a headstart on conditioning and abwork, both of which we do a lot in Muay Thai. The padwork will be much more tiring. You%26#039;ll jump rope a lot, but you%26#039;re probably used to that.

If anyone tells you to hit your shins with things, they are stupid and fake. That is not a good way of conditioning your shins. They will get conditioned from training.

After a while, you%26#039;ll spar, but you shouldn%26#039;t stop attending the beginning classes. That%26#039;s how people get slack on their conditioning. |||Expect Ab work. You will be doing a lot of ab work, because that is where a lot of power comes from in Muay Thai.

You can%26#039;t be afraid to get physical. You%26#039;ll practice punches, blocks, kicks, elbows, clinch work, and combo%26#039;s. The more impact and technique you put into each lesson, the better you get.

Expect a lot of conditioning drills. You can%26#039;t fight if you can%26#039;t endure. I suggest running and doing a lot of exercise at home to keep you in shape so training isn%26#039;t so hard.

Listen to your instructors and don%26#039;t be afraid to ask questions. The best have to start somewhere.

Muscle isn%26#039;t a big concern, but it should be later. First get your technique down. Then, try to get buffed up within your ideal weight. You%26#039;ll get natural muscle from training though.

Expect to spar. It%26#039;s one of the main training disciplines of Muay Thai.|||You can expect your shins to hurt.

Also, there will be a tendency to throw more punches than kicks, so you may get saddled with a minimum number of kicks to throw every match.|||pain lots and lots of pain|||PAIN....you will turn masochistic and start to love pain....LOL!!

And broken shin or knee if you are not careful...hope i scared you enough...ha ha ha!!|||definately get ready to work your shins
