I was sparring at my gym with a muay thai kickboxer (female) and she hit me with a front kick..I thought it was just a push kick but it had a lot of follow through.. I went down and just about threw up.. I actually wanted to throw up but couldn%26#039;t...|||If it knocks you out, yes.
The muay thai front kick is usually to keep your opponent at a distance, it can also be used as a defensive move to keep your opponent from kicking you by aiming the hip.|||the foot jab really shouldnt bother you unless you are soft in the midsection, or caught completely off gaurd (especially if your are moving into it), but it is realy just to keep the distance from your opponent (if you want it)... the foot jab to the face is considered very disprespectful.... but the front kick, from many other MA%26#039;s (a %26quot;chambered kick%26quot; that %26quot;snaps%26quot; using the ball of the foot) is definately a knock out kick, but it must be landed under the chin, or at your oponents body only if they are leaning forward... good luck|||A foot jab CAN end a fight but that%26#039;s not what it%26#039;s for. Never stand in front of linear kicks. It doesn%26#039;t look like it%26#039;ll do anything but you%26#039;ll be surprised by the power behind it even if you block it.|||As others have said - while it CAN knock you out, it%26#039;s usually considered a defensive push or a pre-emptive kick parry.
Just to armchair quarterback for a moment - what is sounds like is that she had good convergence - ie, she was able to get all of the muscles that go into the kick working at the same time, so that there was a powerful %26#039;impulse%26#039;. This includes the calf muscles of the leg on the ground (you can end up on tiptoe this way), in a way that you end up sort-of springing yourself forward at your target.
Some styles teach a more exaggerated version, where you almost lean back into the kick and throw your hips forward at the same time. This is kind of like a fencing floor lunge though, and may get you out of position if you miss with it.|||yes
