Muay Thai?

Im 16, trained in shotokan karate for around 5 years and had a dan 1 black belt before quitting last year because it was getting very boring and wasnt rough. I want to start muay thai because i have heard it is very efficient and is applicable in real life situations. Do muay thai gyms accept people my age? Am i allowed to compete at my age? How long do you train in muay thai before competing?|||Sure you can start.

I%26#039;m not sure you will be allowed to compete here or not!! But in Thailand you will ;-)

Just some clips of the best Muay Thai fighter (now) and Muay Thai Kid.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w9BbFeWB...|||why throw away all your hard work at shotokan? Why not find a new shotokan school or talk to your teacher. I always heard that shotokan schools used full-contact sparring and emphasized a linear root and a high level of budo. But, if your content on Muay thai, yes 16 years old is sufficeient. Many people start muay thai as children. And yes you can compete as a junior. You probably need atlest 4-6 months of training before your first fight. But, since you already came from a martial arts backgroudn, it could be less time. It depends on your commitment. google %26quot;IKF%26quot;. You can find muay thai tourneys are there

Dont taze me bro: Im not struggling to keep him anywhere. And how dare you say that shotokan is inferior. I dont even practice shotokan, but im just telling this guy he should be really sure before switching schools. Its a big decision. Yes most traditional schools in america are nothing like their asian counter parts, but still, you dont have to act like that. I still answered his question didnt I?|||Look at the guy above struggle so hard to keep you interested in Shotokan. Inferiority complex is no laughing matter.

Yes you will be accepted at the Muay Thai club.

Train in anything that interests you. Don%26#039;t listen to jerk off bigot%26#039;s like the guy above.|||I%26#039;m pretty sure gyms will accept you, and you will most likely be able to spar. Maybe not COMPETE, but spar yes.
