What goes on in a Muay Thai class?

What is expected in a typical Muay Thai class?|||In the Muay Thai Kickboxing class you will learn how to strike an opponent using your hands, feet, elbows %26amp; knees. You will also learn how clinch an opponent and use strikes from this position. You will then learn how to use the thai pads, focus mitts, kick shields and bags to increase your skills and fitness. As your skills improve you will learn to navigate the ring and improve your sparring ability. Muay Thai Kickboxing is a class that has a strong focus on fitness.

This web-site will give you an idea of what happens in classes:

http://www.chaophrayamuaythai.com/gradin...|||It depends on whose class you take and whether it is a beginning class or an advanced one.

In a beginning class, you%26#039;ll start by jumping rope, then stretching out and shadowboxing using the mirrors in the room. Then you will probably do padwork with either a kick shield or Thai pads- long rectangular pads held over the arms to catch kicks and punches. You may do work on the heavybag. There may be offense/defense drills done with a partner to help you work on defending punches and kicks.

In an advanced class, you%26#039;ll go over more involved combinations or defensive methods, and then have sparring.

I suggest that you go check out a few gyms and just watch their Muay Thai classes before you participate. Check around and find out if the instructor is reputable, and is an actual Muay Thai fighter, not some random shmo or some MMA guy.|||Warm up
