And which skill do you personally think is better to have on the streets|||spelling?|||Dis you even do any research before you ask this question? BJJ and Muay Thai are two completely different arts, one is standup the other is grapling or wrestling, have you seen wrestling before? have you seen a guy punching before? DIFFERENT
As for which one is better, I%26#039;d rather know a little of both than just master one or the other as you never know if the street fight will be one on one or against many|||All the other answers are correct as to what the styles are, but that is it. If you are looking for a street defense martial art, both Muay Thai and BJJ are inadequate. The best street martial art in existence is Krav Maga. It is a hybrid fighting style developed for the Israeli Special Police. It focuses on quick devastating strikes and joint locks to get you out of danger quickly and efficiently. It also focuses on defending multiple attackers and utilizing your surroundings for offense and defense.
If Krav Maga is not available in your area to learn, then try and make yourself as well rounded as possible. Training in just one style or technique will leave you vulnerable in a true street altercation. If your attacker realizes that you can kick his butt standing up, then he will try to wrestle you down and vice-versa. You need to be prepared for both.
Beleive me, I am speaking from a great deal of experience.|||muay thain is from thai land and it focusses on stand up punches kicks elbows and knees bjj is the foremost ground fighting art thanks to mma stand up and ground fighting are both important on the streets and neither is more important.. but for one on one ground fighting would be better and for multiples you should only use ground fighting skills.... to get back up on your feet and striking is.... its usefull ness has never been doubted...|||muay thai stand up jiu jitsu ground|||Muay Thai is the deadly art of the 8 limbs(knees, eblows , legs, fists). it is for striking , and close striking againts an opponent.
BJJ , is an art for ground fighting , It is like wrestling , but with chokes , and joint locks.
These two martial arts have been proven to be the two mose effective styles for pure *** kicking.
In a street fight seneraio I would say Muay Thai would benifit you more , because if you go on the ground , the other dudes homies can punch and kick you in head when you are on the ground , and BJJ is pretty much only good for 1 on 1 fights. Muay thai you can knee some one in the face , turn around elbow the other dude in the face , knee him in the nuts, and run for it.|||Muay Thai is a form of kick boxing from Thailand and is the national sport there, it focuses on strikes and sometimes grappling moves. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is based on the Japanese Jujitsu system and focuses on groundwork a lot. Unlike Thai Boxing it is entirely grappling and there is no striking.
On the street, I%26#039;d say Thai Boxing because its easier to defend yourself through strikes if you really need to. BJJ is more of a sport than a practical form of self defence. Its definitely possible at a higher level but most people will stay down after they get kicked by a Thai boxer. I%26#039;ve been knocked out by one in competition.
